A truck carrying an aerial lift struck the Interstate 95 bridge last week. The folded boom made contact with the overpass, denting the metal side. Bangor Daily News reported that the crash slowed traffic on the morning commute for an hour and a half, until the truck made a u-turn and headed back toward downtown Bangor. The strike shattered the glass of the cabin, but contributed to no injuries, according to the report.
The truck belongs to a company that was doing contract work for Emera Maine, according to an employee at the scene who spoke with the newspaper. A bridge inspector from the MDOT found no immediate issues with the damage, as the bridge has been struck several times in the past.
